Israel, Hamas Agree To Extend Ceasefire For Two Days

Israel and Hamas have agreed a two-day extension to the current ceasefire which has seen hostages freed and Palestinian prisoners released foreign affairs officials of Qatar have disclosed.

Israel had offered a day’s pause in fighting for every 10 additional hostages released from Gaza

It has also been reported that families have been informed by the Israeli government that a further release of hostages will take place later on Monday.

As part of the Israel-Hamas deal, 39 Israeli hostages in Gaza have been released so far with 117 Palestinians freed from Israeli jails.

Further lorry-loads of humanitarian supplies entered the Gaza Strip on Monday with food, fuel and medicines being distributed by aid organisations

Hamas’s attacks on 7 October killed 1,200 people in Israel, with about 240 taken hostage.

Since then, Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry says more than 14,500 people have been killed in Israel’s retaliatory campaign that has leveled significant landmarks in Gaza City.

GWG.ng reports that the decision by Israel and Hamas to the extension of the ceasefire has brought some measure of relief to all sides. However, Israel has pledged to sustain its military campaign once the ceasefire lapses with the claim that its determined goal is to totally remove Hamas as a threat.
