Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), has sparked severe criticism for his seemingly lighthearted message to viral sensation Mummy Zee. The lady gained fame for her supportive role towards her husband, prompting various individuals to reward her with cash and gifts.

In an attempt to join the trend, Hundeyin wrote a message on social media stating, “Hi Debby, We at Nigeria Police Force are offering you…🤭” He left the message incomplete, inviting netizens to fill in the blanks.

However, the jovial approach did not sit well with many people, and they expressed their displeasure in the comment section. Critics argued that the police officer’s attempt to leverage the viral trend for humor was inappropriate, given the serious nature of the issues faced by the police force.

Check out the reactions that followed …

@forby_gram reacted: “Peak fooling on a sunday morning 😭”

@Ovo_himself449 said: “You no fit catch Gistlover but una fit catch cruise”

@chukwumaobasi remarked: “We the Nigeria Police Force known globally for bribery and corruption hereby offer you a chance to be one of us. You will be stationed at Odogwu junction where your team will be in charge of our stop and search team. You will remit 50% of daily Roger to the DPO. Congratulations.”

@bellick01 stated: “Nothing but nothing. You guys only offer the citizens with nothing but failure 😞.”

@esshman advised: “Try open burner account for this kind of thing. E no fit that uniform”

The incident highlights the challenges authorities may face when attempting to engage with trending topics on social media, especially when public sentiment is sensitive.
