Ibadan: Makinde Faults Illegal Mining, Creates Shelter For Displaced Persons (Video)

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has identified illegal mining activities as the cause of the explosion that shook the state capital on Tuesday evening.

Governor Makinde disclosed this statement during an interview with journalists, shedding light on the cause of the explosion that left parts of Ibadan in distress.

Governor Makinde assured Ibadan residents that those those injured in the explosion and currently hospitalized would receive proper treatment. Additionally, he addressed the housing crisis caused by the damage, stating that individuals whose homes were affected had been provided temporary accommodation in various hotels within the city.

“We have 77 injured victims so far, most of whom were treated and discharged and 2 fatalities. May their souls rest in peace and may God give their loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“I have directed that the medical bills of all victims be covered by the government. We will also be providing temporary accommodation for those whose houses were affected and ensuring that they are supported to rebuild their lives.”- Governor Makinde said
