All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant in Edo State, Prince Clem Agba has disputed claims that the screening panel instituted by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole led caucus of the party in the state was propelled to rig out heavyweights like Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to advance him.

Speaking in an interview, Agba also disputed the claims of zoning saying that his Edo North senatorial district has produced the least number of governors in the state.

Agba spoke in an interview with AIT’s Kaakaki programme on Monday.

Told directly that he was pushed forward to nudge out heavyweights like Pastor Ize-Iyamu, Agba said:

“That cannot be the true position. I am among the six and I have heard among 20 years experience in the organized private sector. I worked at the sub-national level as a two-time commissioner, I have been a minister, albeit minister of state. To say that the six are people without experience cannot definitely be correct.

He also dismissed the claim on zoning saying that his Edo North Senatorial District had only filled the position of Edo State govnrnor once unlike Edo South which has produced four governors and Edo Central which he said has produced two governors.

“I agree with our party constitution that says no zoning. Again, we are opposition in our state, so we should be putting our best foot forward to reclaim power.

“Sometimes people talk about morality when it comes to politics, (but) that comes in after you have gotten power.

“What you do, you say, we are in opposition what is the best way we can get the position back to ourselves, who is the best persons we can put forward? Who’s got the experience and capacity to deliver? I think that is what is very, very important.

“Again not to dodge the issue, you also look at the past and say what has happened? How many governors have each of the senatorial districts produced? How many ministers have each of the senatorial districts produced?”

GWG.ng reports that the assertions by Agba is against the background of mutterings that Ize-Iyamu, who was the party’s candidate in 2020 who is also reputed with the widest name recognition and political network in the state may have failed to cut a deal with political godfathers in the APC.
