All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant in Edo State Prince Clem Agba has blamed Governor Godwin Obaseki for stoking the multiplication of aspirants seeking the governorship ticket of the opposition party in the state.

Speaking in an interview with AIT’s Kakaaki programmme on Friday morning, Agba said that the perceived poor performance of the Obaseki government is what has stoked a deluge of aspirants in the opposition party seeking to repair the damage in the state.

“I think the number is still large because from the last count, I hear that about 12 have picked up the form and I think one reason for this is because of the dismal performance of the current government. When Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole was governor, the state began to see some form of development in various areas.

“However, all that has disappeared but a lot of our people are not happy and in addition to that there is a lot of poverty in the land and there isn’t any form of empathy coming from the government side. So, a lot of us are desirous of making a change in the state and just to ensure that we bring back our state in that part of growth that it used to be.

Giving an example of the poor performance of the Obaseki government, Clem Agba cited the state of the road leading to the Government House, he said:

“When it rains the whole road is flooded. That is not a federal road. It is not even a United Nations’ road. It is a state government road. a road leading to the seat of power where the governor stays. So, you find that it is the issue of an individual.”

On the state of Kings Square, popularly known as Ring Road, which he said that he renovated as a commissioner, Clem Agba dug deeper into Obaseki:
“That’s to tell you that we have an issue with leadership. If we were there and something was done, it shows that something can be done. All that is now required is maintenance. We built new infrastructure but they are not maintaining them. We built several drainages both secondary and primary but they are not being maintained and that’s why the whole place is getting flooded again.”
