Stop And Search: Delta Police Recover Pistol Inside Smoked Fish From Passenger In Delta

Following the discovery of a gun and two cartridges on a passenger, the Delta State Public Relation Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, has urged Nigerians to be patient anytime they encounter the Police during stop and search operations.

According to DSP Edafe, such exercises could be “very important”.

DSP Edafe made this appeal via his official X handle on Thursday.

He said, “Stop and search is very important, pls be patient with us. Kindly read this and understand why!!!

“I got a call from a distress caller that they were on a commercial vehicle coming to Asaba, but the Police stopped them at Kwale and searched all the passengers.

“He said he didn’t know what they saw with one of them, and that after seeing that thing, the policemen took all of them to the station.  

DSP Edafe asked to speak with the police on the scene and got a shocker.

“I asked that he give the policemen the phone, guess what was found with one of the passengers? A cut-to-size gun, and two live cartridges concealed inside a bag containing smoked fish. 

“He was detained and other passengers were allowed to go. You can see that “stop and search” is so important. I quite agree that it may inconvenience passengers, but please always be patient and cooperate with the Police,” he entreated.
