Police authorities have confirmed a tragic incident at the Science Equipment Market, Head Bridge, Onitsha, where a trader was killed by operatives of the Anambra State Anti-touting Squad. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, verified the incident, revealing that several others sustained injuries during the altercation.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, sending shockwaves through the local community. Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Aderemi Adeoye, swiftly ordered a thorough investigation into the matter, demonstrating a commitment to uncovering the truth behind the tragic event.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga further disclosed that upon receiving the distressing report, officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Head Bridge, promptly responded to the scene. There, they encountered a distressing sight: a young man lying in a pool of blood, with another individual injured nearby.

Both victims were swiftly transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, the attending doctor confirmed the death of one of the victims, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Additionally, law enforcement recovered six expended cartridges from the scene, indicating the use of firearms during the altercation.
