Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, on Information and Strategy, has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding the resumption of visa issuance to Nigerians by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In a statement posted on his X account, Onanuga clarified that the document circulating, announcing the resumption of visa services for Nigerians traveling to the UAE, is not authorized by either the Nigerian government or the UAE.

GWG.ng reports that the statement comes as a contradiction to earlier reports suggesting that the UAE had lifted the visa ban imposed on Nigerians.

Onanuga’s assertion has stirred confusion and cast doubt on the validity of the earlier circulated information regarding the visa status between Nigeria and the UAE.

It remains unclear whether there have been official discussions or developments regarding the resumption of visa services between the two countries.

As the situation unfolds, Nigerians await further clarification from relevant authorities regarding the status of visa issuance for travel to the UAE
