Chioma Egodi, a Facebook user  who gave a review about an Erisco tomato product she used has found herself in the midst of ‘trouble that won’t go away’

Trouble started when she published a product review on her Facebook page, saying, “I went to buy tin tomatoes yesterday that I will use to make stew. I didn’t see Gino and Sonia.

“So, I decided to buy this one. When I opened it, I decided to taste it. Omo! Sugar was just too much. Ha, biko, let me know if you have used this tin tomato before because this is an Ike gwuru situation.”

Chioma has since been arrested by the Police with the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Erisco Foods, Chief Eric Umeofia also threatening to slam her with a N5 billion lawsuit over her negative review of the company’s tomato paste.

Umeofia also vowed on national television that he would continue the prosecution of Chioma despite confirming her apologies.

There have also been different reactions trailing the arrest of Chioma by Erisco company with some Nigerians threatening to boycott Erisco foods.

Others have chastised Chioma for her criticism against the company.

GWG.ng reports that the faceoff between Chioma and Erisco is one that is now redefining the issues of freedom of expression and the limit to which it applies with corporate products in the public space.
