Budget Padding: ‘Obidients’ Drag Senator Ireti

Supporters of Labour Party (LP), also known as ‘Obidients’, have taken to their social media spaces to drag Senator Ireti Kingibe over her silence on the alleged budget padding claim, raised by suspended Senator Abdul Ningi.

Recall that Ningi, who represented  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the National Assembly, was suspended by the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, over his claim that the 2024 Budget was padded with the sum of N3.7 trillion.

In a later update, GWG.ng reported that Senator Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) representing Cross-River North, revealed during a Senate session that ranking senators received a sum of N500 million each for projects in their constituencies.

Following these assertions, Obidients have expressed concerns and interpreted that the silence of their representative, Senator Ireti, may mean that she is sitting on the fence or no longer looking out for their interest.
