Outrage over Ilesa University staff killed by trailer

Outrage is spreading among members of the University of Ilesa community after a trailer killed crushed one of the female staff of the university.

An eyewitness who conveyed the information with pictures on social media said the trailer crushed the woman’s car, leaving her trapped under the trailer for prolonged hours in pain before she passed on as there was no timely rescue.

Members of the University Community are enraged against the government for its slackness in rescuing the woman when they called for help. They are demanding for justice to be served.

Leading the demand for justice, National  Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Chairman, Ogungbe Taiwo Adedamola, in a statement posted on X, said, 

“With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of a beloved member of the University of Ilesa community, who tragically lost her life today, April 3, 2024, at 3:35 pm. 

“As we mourn the passing of this dedicated mother and esteemed representative of our state, we are compelled to address the alarming circumstances surrounding her untimely demise.

“As a spokesperson for the Institute of Youth, I express profound sorrow and raise awareness about the urgent need for action. This unfortunate incident not only impacts one individual but also serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers faced by all members of our community, including students.”

They further gave the police five-day-ultimatum to look into the heart wrenching situation.

“We denounce the prioritization of material possessions over human life and demand justice for the victim and her grieving family. It is imperative that swift and decisive action be taken to ensure accountability and provide adequate compensation to the bereaved.
