Apostle Suleman Halima Court

The Federal High Court has ruled that actress Halima Abubakar must pay a sum of N10 million for spreading false information about Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International.

The court’s decision, issued on Monday, mandates Abubakar to compensate Apostle Suleman for any losses resulting from her actions.

The judgment stemmed from a suit made by Apostle Suleman, who accused Abubakar of making derogatory remarks about him on her Instagram account, which were subsequently circulated by various blogs and media outlets.

Judge Enobie Obanor, who presided over the case, said Abubakar had the opportunity to defend herself but opted not to do so. The ruling emphasized the damaging and false nature of the statements posted by Abubakar, which tarnished Apostle Suleman’s reputation.

As a result, the court awarded Apostle Suleman N10,000,000 in exemplary and aggravating damages for libel. Additionally, an injunction was imposed prohibiting Abubakar from publishing any further information about Apostle Suleman.

GWG.ng reports that following the assertions of Halima Abubakar against Apostle Suleman that the cleric had gone to court to seek judicial relief against the actress who, however, opted not to defend herself in the court.

Meanwhile, Halima Abubakar is yet to respond to the court decision that she should pay Apostle Suleman the N10m for damages.
