In a swift operation, the Niger State Police Command has apprehended a fake female police officer who had allegedly been impersonating the security agency. The suspect, Paulina Ayuba, has, however, denied the charge claiming that she was a member of a local vigilante group in her neighbourhood.

The suspect was found wearing a police camouflage uniform and possessing a knife, Indian hemp, and other hard drugs.

According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, the arrest was made on May 10, 2024, at approximately 11:30 pm. The police patrol team attached to Maitumbi Division acted on credible information, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

During interrogation, Paulina claimed to be a vigilante member of the Suleja group and alleged that the uniform was given to her to dry clean by an unidentified person, which she then took for herself.

The suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and prosecution the police said.

This arrest of the fake female police officer highlights the Niger State Police Command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and ensuring public safety. The command urges citizens to report any suspicious activities or individuals impersonating law enforcement officers.
