King Charles revealed that he has lost his sense of taste due to cancer treatment. The monarch shared this personal experience while conversing with Aaron Mapplebeck, a British Army veteran who had undergone treatment for testicular cancer and experienced similar side effects during a visit to the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop, Hampshire, .

King Charles, who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, has been given permission by his doctors to resume public duties. Ahead of his first major investiture since his cancer diagnosis, the King officially handed over the role of colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps to Prince William.

The King and Prince William were seen smiling and chatting during the visit to the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop. Kensington Palace also shared photos of Prince William’s time as an Apache pilot, highlighting his experience in the Army Air Corps.

The handover of the role was described as “tinged with great sadness” by King Charles, who had held the position for 32 years. However, he expressed hope for the future and praised Prince William’s piloting skills, saying, “The great thing is he’s a very good pilot indeed – so that’s encouraging.”

During the visit, King Charles also unveiled a plaque commemorating the display of an Apache AH Mk1, the first of its kind to be installed at a UK museum. This moment marked a significant milestone in the King’s journey with cancer and his continued commitment to public service.
