Iranian Dissidents Claim Fireworks, Jubilation, After President’s Death (Video)

Following the tragic death of the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, in a helicopter crash, dissidents are claiming celebrations in some parts of the country.

On Sunday, Iranian authorities had confirmed that a helicopter in a convoy carrying Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian had been involved in an accident.

Reports confirmed that the helicopter – one of three travelling in a convoy – made a “hard landing” after it got into difficulties in heavy fog in the north of the country.

This had kept the country in suspense until confirmations of his death by Iran authorities and diverse media outlets went viral.

Dissidents from outside the country took to their social media spaces to react to the tragic development. See reactions from netizens on X:

Navid Mohebbi نوید محبی … said, “As always, I am in awe of the bravery of Iranians. In Mashhad, Ebrahim Raisi’s hometown, people set off fireworks in celebration of his helicopter crash.

“It’s not like protesting in the West. They face jail, torture & everything but they still protest.”
