JUST IN: Imo State Tribunal Validates Hope Uzodimma’s Election Victory, Dismisses LP Petition
The Imo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, convened in Abuja, has confirmed the victory of Senator Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Imo State governorship election of last November as it dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its governorship candidate, Athan Achonu.
Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, delivering a unanimous decision on behalf of the three-man tribunal, emphasized that Uzodimma’s election aligned substantially with the stipulations outlined in the Electoral Act. The tribunal scrutinized the electoral process and found Uzodimma’s victory to be in accordance with legal standards.
Furthermore, the tribunal concluded that the Labour Party’s petition lacked sufficient evidence to substantiate claims of over-voting and non-compliance with electoral regulations as prescribed by the Electoral Act.
In summary, the Imo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal affirmed Hope Uzodimma’s election victory, dismissing challenges posed by the Labour Party and its candidate.
