Nollywood Star Opens Up On How His Rehearsal For ‘Mad Man’ Role Led To His Problems (Video)
Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has shared a heart-wrenching account of how a misconceived viral video led to his abandonment and stigmatization at his lowest point.
In a recent conversation with Facebook content creator Lucky Udu, Anuku revealed the devastating impact of false rumors sparked by the video, which showed him wandering the streets in tattered clothing.
Contrary to popular belief, Anuku clarified that the video was actually a preparation for a movie role where he played a madman. He criticized those who filmed him without understanding the context, accusing them of irresponsibly spreading false rumors that tarnished his reputation.

Despite his assurances that nothing was wrong, his family, including his twin brother and wife, chose to believe the damaging rumors of drug addiction, leaving him feeling isolated and hopeless.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and his colleagues in the film industry also stigmatized him, ceasing communication and withholding roles.
Anuku credited his resilience and faith in God for helping him endure the difficult times. He is now slowly regaining his footing in both his personal and professional life.
“I was perfectly alright, but the video circulating about me is not what it seems. It has really affected my life. I lost all my friends, lost all my film roles, and lost money,” he said.
