Outrage As Wike Allows Pro-Tinubu Protest In Eagle Square

Outrage has been sparked on social media after pictures showing Pro-Tinubu protesters protesting against the planned nationwide protest, at Eagle Square, Abuja, went viral.

The Pro-Tinubu protesters wielded protest banners such as, “Say no to protest” in all the 36 states across the country.

GWG.ng reports that this is coming after the F.C.T. minister, Nyesom Wike, said that he didn’t receive a formal application for the use of Eagle Square, Abuja, as a protest venue insisting further that the venue has already been paid for by another organisation.

Wike, who stated this during a town hall meeting at the weekend in Abuja, also discouraged residents from joining the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1-10, dubbed ’10 Days of Rage,’ aimed at highlighting economic hardships..

The Protest by the  Pro-Tinubu protesters at Eagle has since erupted outrage, questions from Nigerians on X. 

Hon. Rilwa identified as @rilwan_ola01 on X began, “I thought Wike said no protest in Abuja . How come hoodlums and criminals are allowed to stage protest at eagle square . Apc people already redefined the true meaning of democracy .  Shame shame shame.”

GWG.ng notes that the Federal and State governments had made several efforts to stop the hunger protest, saying it could be hijacked by hoodlums and enemies of democracy.
