US rap superstar Travis Scott was released from custody in Paris on Saturday after spending 36 hours detained in connection with an alleged altercation, according to statements from his US-based representative and French prosecutors.

The 33-year-old artiste, known for his chart-topping hits and multiple Grammy Award nominations, was taken into custody following an incident at the Georges V hotel, a luxury five-star establishment in Paris. The altercation reportedly involved one of Scott’s security guards, prompting law enforcement to intervene.

“Travis Scott has been released without charges,” a representative for the rapper confirmed. The Paris prosecutor’s office also corroborated this, stating that Scott was released from custody on Saturday and that the case was dismissed due to insufficient evidence.

GWG.ng reports that the incident unfolded early on Friday morning when police were called to the hotel after Scott allegedly engaged in “violence against a security agent” who had stepped in to de-escalate a situation between the rapper and his bodyguard. Scott’s management later assured that they were in “direct communication with Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve” the matter.

Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, had been in Paris to attend the Olympics men’s basketball semi-finals on Thursday evening. Despite the recent legal hiccup, the rapper continues to maintain a high profile in the entertainment industry.

This is not Scott’s first run-in with the law. In June, he was arrested in Miami Beach on charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication, following an altercation on a yacht. Additionally, in November 2021, his concert in Houston, Texas, was marred by tragedy when ten people were killed in a crowd crush during a music festival performance.

Despite these controversies, Travis Scott remains a major force in the music industry. His latest album, “Utopia,” was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards. Beyond music, Scott has secured lucrative partnerships with brands like Nike, Epic Games, and McDonald’s. He also shares two children with social media mogul Kylie Jenner.

As Scott returns to his usual activities, his fans and the public will undoubtedly keep a close eye on his next moves, both in his career and personal life.
