PDP Peace Plan Erupts As Bode George Walks Out On Ikimi
By Emmanuel Aziken
The plot to reset the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on the part of order was at the weekend derailing after erstwhile National Vice-Chairman, Southwest of the party, Chief Bode George renounced his membership of the party’s disciplinary committee that has Chief Tom Ikimi as chairman.
Bode George in an interview said it was incongruous for him to serve under Ikimi who he said met him in the party.
Besides that George in the interview also frowned at the lack of sincerity in the new attempt at reconciliation and dispense of discipline.
He said that the fundamental issues that led to the cleavage of the party ahead of the 2023 General Election arising from the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate at the expense of the South had not been sufficiently addressed.
GWG.ng reports that Bode George who spoke in an interview on Arise News Television morning programme on Friday.
While not belittling the personality of Ikimi, Chief Bode George said that it was incongruous for him to serve under the former ANPP chief who joined the party after him.
“I made an observation, you want to do it and you make me to serve under Ikimi, I told them, when did Ikimi join the party? Oh they sir, you know you have the experience…
“I am almost at the eight floor of life, why am I going to be running to Abuja wasting my time? I said to them I cant serve under Ikimi, period! When did he join the party?”
Noting that the chairman, Ikimi and Eyitayo Jegede, the secretary were of the same group, he added:
“And we know within ourselves the various groups that are dividing the party. That is what the party should sit down first and resolve. Now the chairman of that committee is from one group, the secretary of the committee is from the same group,” George said.
GWG.ng reports that ahead of the General Election that Bode George moved with the Nyesom Wike tendency while Ikimi and Jegede who was a former lawyer to Atiku joined with the presidential candidate.
The PDP had earlier in the week inaugurated the disciplinary and reconciliation committees to reset the party on the part of order having in 2015 lost its trajectory of running the Nigerian presidency for 70 straight years as had been earlier vowed.
