TAMPAN Reinstates Nkechi Blessing After Three-Year Suspension
The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has lifted the suspension on actress Nkechi Blessing, three years after she publicly apologized.
GWG.ng recalls that the controversy started in 2021 when Blessing got into a heated argument on social media with fellow actor Kehinde Adams, known as Lege Miami. This argument was sparked by the arrest of another actor, Baba Ijesha, who was later convicted for assaulting a minor. Following her criticism of TAMPAN regarding the incident, Blessing was suspended from the association.
Recently, at the Nigerian Canadian Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Toronto, Blessing offered a heartfelt apology to TAMPAN.
In a widely shared video, the 35-year-old actress knelt before Bolaji Amusan, the TAMPAN president known as Mr. Latin, seeking his forgiveness. She expressed her deep remorse, saying, “I am deeply sorry for all I did. I am so sorry. I beg you from the bottom of my heart to please forgive me. I appreciate the industry. You all made me who I am today. I would not be anyone if not because of you.”
Following her apology, Amusan and fellow actor Odunlade Adekola went on stage to embrace her. Adekola praised Blessing for recognizing her mistakes, while Amusan welcomed her back into the association, commending her “courage” in an Instagram post. He wrote, “I commend and admire your courage… welcome on board!!!”
