Angry Man Pours Petrol On Nigerian Wife, Sets Her On Fire
A 55-year-old man named Olubunmi Johnson has been arrested by the Ogun State police for allegedly setting his wife on fire in the Ota area of the state.
The incident reportedly happened around 8:30 p.m. on Friday after a disagreement between Johnson and his wife, Kikelomo, at their home on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo. According to reports, Johnson poured petrol on Kikelomo and then lit her on fire.
Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident, mentioning that the police were informed by the victim’s relatives. Although the details of what led to the argument remain unclear, a witness took the victim to the hospital for treatment.
Odutola explained, “The police officers from the Ilogbo Division quickly took action, resulting in the arrest of the 55-year-old suspect. The husband doused his wife’s body with petrol and set her on fire with a match stick. Witnesses to the incident immediately rushed her to the hospital.”
“Upon receiving the report, our detectives quickly took action and arrested the husband, who has since been detained,” she added. An investigation into the case, which is being treated as attempted murder, has started.
