Patoranking Sister Husband

Tears flowed as Nigerian singer Patoranking’s sister, Chioma Onuabuchi, and her husband, George, were laid to rest in Uburu, Ebonyi State, after a tragic gas explosion in their Abakaliki home.

Nigerian singer Patoranking’s family is grieving after the tragic loss of his sister, Chioma Onuabuchi, and her husband, George.

The couple was laid to rest in their hometown of Uburu, Ebonyi State, following a devastating gas explosion at their home in Abakaliki.

The fatal incident occurred on September 11, 2024, shocking the local community. Recalling the moment, a neighbor, Nwokporo Victor Uchechukwu, said, “We only heard the sound of an explosion in the afternoon. When we rushed to the compound, smoke was coming out of the new building with all the electronics destroyed. The ceiling, doors, and windows were damaged, and it sounded like a bomb. At first, we thought it was a gas cylinder or maybe an inverter. Only God knows what was implanted in that house.”

The explosion inflicted severe injuries on the couple, who were quickly taken to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, Chioma passed away first, and her husband, George, succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the tragic event. He shared, “They have been in the hospital; the wife died first. She is the sister of Patoranking. Her husband died yesterday, September 11, 2024. We are still investigating the cause of the explosion, whether it was a battery inverter or a gas cylinder. We don’t have any confirmed facts yet.”

The couple leaves behind a three-year-old son, who was fortunately with his grandmother when the incident occurred. The loss has brought sorrow to their family and the entire community.
