Speed Darlington Rearrested During Show

Controversial Nigerian rapper, Speed Darlington, popularly known as “Akpi,” has reportedly been rearrested by the Nigerian Police during a show in Owerri, Imo State.

The arrest follows Speed Darlington’s return to Nigeria from the United States, where he had been living after a previous run-in with the law over his remarks about fellow artiste Burna Boy. His earlier arrest had been linked to the controversial statements, which he later apologized for, only to retract the apology in subsequent comments from the U.S.

According to his legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju, the rapper was apprehended while performing at the event. Adeyanju confirmed the development on social media, stating:

“BREAKING: Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
