“I Will Own A Big Club,” Ronaldo Declares At Globe Soccer Awards
Cristiano Ronaldo, the iconic Portuguese forward currently playing for Al Nassr, has revealed plans to own a football club after retiring from his playing career.
He shared this ambition during the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, where the 39-year-old outlined his future goals.
Speaking at the event, Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, expressed his determination to become a club owner, drawing inspiration from actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who famously bought Wrexham AFC. “I am still very young, I have so many plans and dreams ahead,” Ronaldo stated. “Mark my words, I will be an owner of a big club. For sure.”
Unlike many retired players who turn to coaching, Ronaldo made it clear he has no interest in that path. Instead, he is eager to manage a major football club, aiming to address what he sees as fundamental issues within the sport.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has spoken openly about the challenges he observed at Manchester United during his second stint with the club, which ended in 2022. He compared the problems at Old Trafford to an aquarium, saying, “If you have a fish that is sick and you take him out and fix the problem but put him back in, they will be sick again.” According to Ronaldo, deeper reforms are needed beyond just changing managers.
As Ronaldo approaches the end of his remarkable career, his focus is shifting to creating a lasting legacy off the field. His plans to own a football club have sparked discussions among fans and analysts, who are curious about which team he might choose and how his leadership could reshape the sport.
This move, if realized, could bring fresh ideas and significant changes to football, further cementing Ronaldo’s influence both on and off the pitch.
