Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy has addressed criticism over his reaction to a fan who climbed the stage during the New Year concert in Lagos.

The incident, which marred the free Lagos concert where Burna Boy thrilled fans with an electrifying performance, quickly went viral. A video from the event captured the moment a fan climbed onto the stage, prompting Burna Boy to stomp near the individual, who immediately bent down beneath him.

The unexpected encounter sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans questioning Burna Boy’s actions for supposedly walking out on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who was also present at the Lagos Concert.

In a recent post shared on his social media page, Burna Boy offered clarity on the situation. He explained that the show was a free event, and he had performed for nearly an hour despite being scheduled for just 10 minutes.

Burna Boy further revealed that the fan’s sudden appearance on stage startled him, noting his personal struggles with PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) as a contributing factor.

“It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost an hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing. I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year,” he wrote.

Despite the controversy, Burna Boy expressed his gratitude to fans for their support at the Lagos concert and reiterated his love for them while wishing everyone a Happy New Year.
