Nigerian Bride Refuses To Dance At Wedding Reception (Video)
By Benjamin Abioye
A dramatic scene unfolded at a wedding reception when the bride walked out after refusing to dance to a band she didn’t invite, insisting on her preferred music choice instead.
An unusual situation has caught the attention of the internet after a bride refused to dance to the music played by a band at her wedding reception. Instead, she insisted on only dancing to the band she had personally invited, leading to an unexpected walkout from the event.
In a viral video shared on the X platform by user @Teeniiola, the bride was seen loudly shouting “no! I’m not” as she refused to dance to the music being played. Despite her friends surrounding her and attempting to persuade her to join the celebration, the bride remained resolute, ultimately walking out and standing at the entrance of the reception venue. The confusion stemmed from a disagreement over which band would play at certain points of the event.
According to reports, the wedding was divided into different sections. The bride had planned to wear two different outfits, one for the first part of the event and the other later on. However, the conflict arose when the second band, which had arrived to usher the bride in, was not part of the initial arrangement. The bride had originally planned for the ‘Alaga’ band to perform during her entrance, but the unexpected substitution of the other band caused the stir.
The bride finally made her entrance when her preferred band began to play, and she was seen dancing gracefully, surrounded by her friends. The singer was seen cheering her on, while the bride appeared to thoroughly enjoy the moment. The incident has sparked many reactions online, with users sharing their thoughts about the bride’s insistence on having things done her way.
Reactions on social media have varied, with some people supporting the bride’s decision. @Comeback_snarky commented, “I don’t know the traditional band o, but I’m sure they would do better than this.” Others like @rainbowluster also sympathized, saying, “She’s better than me, If I had to say it the second time and you’re asking me silly questions, I’d have just postponed the whole thing.”
Many people agreed with the bride’s stance, saying she was right to insist on having the event as she had planned. @allthinxmystic wrote, “She’s better than me… I’d have postponed the whole thing.” @TheMideBabs humorously asked, “What if they were invited by her mother-in-law?” while @sᴀᴊɪᴛʜᴀ ☾︎♥︎ pointed out that such disputes could often be a sign of bigger issues, writing, “Na from clap dance Dey start.”
On the other hand, some people questioned the tradition behind such conflicts. @Talk2meeh shared their opinion saying, “Very unnecessary traditions, I love how she insisted,” while @TheMideBabs asked, “What if they were invited by her mother-in-law?” Some others were curious about the background of the event, with @Cryptobaddie1 commenting, “She is a queen that knows what she wants and says it… I would leave without a word and no one would see me till the next day fr 😂😂😂😂 she is nice.”
In a humorous reaction, @Dubs🦈 asked, “Why she nearly resemble Nicki Minaj for face,” while @EbyauGroup raised suspicions about the band’s fee being misused, commenting, “Someone ate (misappropriated) her band money. People!”
The viral video and the bride’s insistence on having things her way have certainly ignited conversations, with many calling for respect for the bride’s preferences on her special day. Whether or not the disagreement was a result of miscommunication, it seems that the bride’s refusal to compromise resonated with many viewers, reminding everyone that a wedding is a deeply personal experience for the couple.
