BREAKING: Gunmen Break Up Church Service, Kill Prophet
By Benjamin Abioye

Gunmen on Sunday attacked a Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in Idiroko, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, shooting 54-year-old Prophet Yomi Adetula dead.
The hoodlums stormed the CCC Eagle Parish along Baggage Road, Odo Eran, Idiroko, around 10:30 AM and opened fire during the church service. Three gunmen reportedly targeted Adetula, shooting him and then mangling his head with an axe to ensure he was dead.
According to Police Spokesman Omolola Odutola, “Police officers raced to the scene and saw Yomi Adetula, ‘M’, aged 54 years lifeless in the pool of blood which stained his white celestial garment lying face up.” Odutola added that “On careful observation, his body was riddled with bullets and his head was not spared… to ensure the victim was really dead, it was mangled with an axe.”
Further investigation revealed that the three attackers entered the Idiroko CCC branch, drew a long double-barrel gun, and fired a shot that brought the prophet down. “Information further gathered that three men came into the church, brought out long double barrel gun aimed at their target and fired a shot that brought the deceased down,” Odutola confirmed.
The police spokesperson also mentioned that the corpse had been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue in Ilaro. “Normalcy has been restored while possible clues will be revealed in the coming days as investigation has been launched into the very sad occurrence,” she added, noting that efforts were underway to arrest the suspects, who fled into a border area.
