The Nigeria Police have reportedly initiated a manhunt for prominent activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, after a video he shared went viral on social media.

Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), posted a video in which he had an altercation with police officers on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Access Road in Lagos.

In the video, the activist can be heard confronting the officers, urging them to stop causing traffic congestion on the busy road.

Following the video’s widespread circulation, Sowore took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday night to claim that the police were actively searching for him. Despite this, the activist expressed his willingness to face any consequences, stating that he was currently in Abuja and available for arrest.

In his post, Sowore wrote, “I have been informed that the Nigeria Police Force is searching for me. I am currently in Abuja and available at their convenience. It appears that the new year is about to start on a positive note! #RevolutionNow.”

GWG.ng reports that Sworore had days back posted his altercation with policemen along the road leading to the Lagos Airport during which he accused the security operatives of causing an unnecessary gridlock on the road.
