Gunshots As Wike’s, Fubara’s Supporters Clash At PDP Secretariat

The political crisis in Rivers State heightened on Friday as supporters of the two leading political contenders in the state, Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike clashed at the Port-Harcourt state. secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Vanguard reports that the supporters of the PDP believed to be loyalists of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, clashed on Saturday with gunshots being shot into the air.
It was gathered that the development resulted in shootings around the PDP Secretariat on Port Harcourt -Aba Expressway, Friday. While some people believed that the gunshots were fired by security operatives, who have been keeping watch over the facility after the sacking of the Aaron Chukwuemeka executive of the party by the court, others said political thugs were behind the shooting.
It was gathered that supporters of Governor Fubara of the state who had been chased out of the office by security men after the court victory attempted to re-take the office, Friday morning when another group said be loyalists of Wike stormed the area. It was gathered that there was a serious clash at the Secretariat, resulting in several gunshots.
