Vinicius Jr. Mbappe High Salary

Vinicius Junior has reportedly set three key demands in his contract negotiations with Real Madrid, with the most significant being a salary higher than that of Kylian Mbappe.

The Brazilian forward, whose current contract runs until 2027, has been in talks with the club after rejecting an initial extension proposal last year.

In September, Vinicius declined Madrid’s offer, believing he could secure a better contract by proving his value on the pitch. However, discussions intensified in 2025 when reports surfaced that he had met with officials from Saudi Arabia regarding a possible transfer. It is alleged that Madrid initially planned to delay negotiations until the end of the season but felt pressured to act quickly due to the growing interest from the Middle East.

According to Cadena Ser, one of the biggest hurdles in the talks is Vinicius’ demand to earn more than Mbappe, who currently makes €15 million per year (£12.5 million/$15.76 million). Although the Brazilian’s salary is already close to this figure, his representatives argue that his impact on the team and marketability justify a significant pay increase. They are pushing for an annual salary above €25 million (£21 million/$26.26 million).

Additionally, Madrid is reportedly under pressure to match or come close to the enormous offer Vinicius received from Saudi Arabia. The deal from the Middle Eastern club is said to be worth an astonishing €1 billion (£832.2 million/$1.05 billion) over five years.

At the moment, Madrid appears reluctant to meet these demands, making a move to Saudi Arabia a more realistic possibility. Reports suggest that Vinicius is unwilling to accept anything below €20 million (£17 million/$21 million) per year, which further complicates contract negotiations.

While financial incentives are a major factor, sources claim that Vinicius is also considering the competitive level of the Saudi Pro League. Another reported offer includes an ambassadorial role for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, which Saudi Arabia will host.

With these high demands, Real Madrid faces a tough decision. European clubs have financial constraints that make it difficult to compete with the massive offers from Saudi Arabia. However, Vinicius has expressed a desire to remain in Spain, which suggests that his demands may be part of a negotiating strategy. Whether Madrid can reach a compromise remains uncertain, but the contract renewal is shaping up to be a complex challenge for club president Florentino Perez.
