The controversy surrounding the viral altercation between a UNIZIK student, Precious Mbakwe, and a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Media Arts has taken a new turn as the student has been offered a foreign scholarship.

The incident, which saw Mbakwe, a 300 level student of UNIZIK, physically assaulting the lecturer after he interrupted her dance video recording, led to her expulsion following a disciplinary committee’s investigation.

However, a UK-based gynecologist, Dr. Mkpouto Pius, has now come forward with claims that challenge the widely circulated narrative that led to Ms Mbakwe’s expulsion from UNIZIK.

In a post shared on Facebook, Dr. Pius revealed that she had spoken directly with Mbakwe and uncovered a different side to the story. She asserted that the lecturer had allegedly harassed the student, which the university was now trying to cover up.

“UNIZIK did the right thing by expelling her, but they are now desperately trying to save face because they know the lecturer harassed that girl. That’s why they’ve been calling her parents, asking her to apologize publicly so they can rescind the expulsion,” Dr. Pius wrote.

She further disclosed that Mbakwe is in a stable condition and receiving strong support from her family. Additionally, Dr. Pius claimed to have offered her a scholarship opportunity abroad, which her parents have reportedly accepted.

“The girl is not breaking down or dying; she’s very fine. When I offered to support her in securing a scholarship abroad, she consulted her parents, and they quickly got on board with the idea,” she stated.

The post has since sent the social media abuzz with many accusing the poster of supporting evil and bad behaviour.

Meanwhile, UNIZIK has yet to officially respond to these new allegations.
