House to arrest VeryDarkMan

Controversial social media critic, Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has thrown a direct jab at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what he perceives as selective enforcement of laws on Naira abuse.

In a bold move, VeryDarkMan shared photos of himself spraying Naira notes at a nightclub in Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday night. Accompanying the images, he wrote: “Okoya is my new surname so EFCC no go talk. Where there is no law, there is no crime….. @officialefcc hello, how are y’all? Anyways, mad fun at CHILLERS BY NEWYORKER IN JOS.”

His statement appeared to be a direct reference to the recent viral video of billionaire industrialist Chief Razaq Okoya’s sons, Raheem and Wahab Okoya, who were seen flaunting wads of Naira notes while dancing at an event. The video sparked public outrage, particularly because a uniformed police officer was seen holding bundles of cash for them while they sprayed money.

Following the backlash, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) confirmed that the officer in the footage had been detained and was undergoing disciplinary action for unethical conduct. Raheem Okoya later issued an apology on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “My intentions were pure. I was naive.”

Despite the public uproar, the EFCC has remained silent on whether the Okoya brothers would face prosecution, a stark contrast to its swift legal action against others. The agency had previously arrested and prosecuted celebrity figures such as cross-dresser Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky) and popular bartender Pascal Okechukwu (Cubana Chief Priest) for similar Naira abuse offenses.

VeryDarkMan’s open challenge has reignited debates on whether the EFCC applies the law selectively, with critics questioning the agency’s silence over high-profile individuals linked to financial infractions. As the controversy unfolds, many are keen to see if the EFCC will respond or continue to ignore the latest Naira abuse case by VeryDarkMan.
