Rihanna Cheers As Partner, A$AP Rocky Is Cleared Of Gun Charges

Rapper A$AP Rocky has been found not guilty of firing a gun at his former friend, Terell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli.
The verdict was announced after a three-week trial, during which the jury deliberated for just three hours.
After the ruling, Rocky embraced his partner, Rihanna, who was visibly emotional. He also hugged his lawyers before addressing the media. “First of all, I gotta thank God. I really wanna thank the jury for making the right decision. I’m so thankful, this is crazy right now. We’re blessed to be a free man talking to all of y’all,” he said.
Rocky had faced two felony counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm related to an incident in November 2021. Prosecutors claimed he fired a gun at Ephron outside a Hollywood parking garage, but his defense argued that the weapon was only a “starter pistol” that shot blanks. They also claimed Rocky acted in self-defense to protect himself and others.
The jury was given instructions that if they believed Rocky had reasonable cause to fear for his safety and used reasonable force, they could find him not guilty. However, it was not clear whether the verdict was based on the belief that the gun was a prop or that Rocky acted in self-defense.
Before the trial, Rocky had declined a plea deal that would have required him to serve 180 days in jail. Now cleared of all charges, he continues his career, having recently been nominated for a Grammy and set to co-chair the upcoming Met Gala. He also has a role in an upcoming Spike Lee film alongside Denzel Washington.
