Video: Mercy Eke’s Lamborghini Car Org@sm Sparks Controversy
By Benjamin Abioye

Reality TV star and influencer, Mercy Eke, has found herself at the center of online discussions after a video surfaced showing her celebrating the acquisition of a Lamborghini.
The video, which featured a friend excitedly hyping her in the background, has fueled speculations, with many questioning the source of her wealth.
The timing of Mercy’s new luxury car has drawn particular attention, coming just after a leaked voice note allegedly revealed that socialite Sophie Egbueje was encouraged to have an intimate encounter with singer Burna Boy in exchange for a Lamborghini. This ongoing controversy has led many netizens to compare both situations, with some suggesting that Mercy’s success is a “successful transfer” while Sophie’s alleged deal “failed.”
Social media users have expressed a wide range of opinions. While some congratulated the reality star, others speculated about how she could afford such an expensive vehicle. @Mevix88 sarcastically commented, “Abeg men wey don taste BBL nyash how e dey feel?” implying that cosmetic enhancements play a role in such acquisitions. @KingTumzy9 admitted, “I will hate on this sha ,” while @Richard_nreek challenged Mercy, saying, “Make Mercy swear say na she buy am??”
Some reactions directly linked Mercy’s new car to financial transactions. While @McLegitKing simply wrote, “Transaction successful…” Others questioned the legitimacy of her earnings. @HubMareme asked, “Please which work she dey do? Tell me her source, I mean genuine one oo…”
Calls for financial scrutiny also emerged. @MullingsJane tagged the anti-graft agency, writing, “@officialEFCC, you need to investigate @real_mercyeke to know how the money entered her account to buy this Lambo…” Similarly, @DavidAluma89108 questioned, “When will @officialEFCC start investigating girls? Abi these girls dey give them puna?”
More users expressed skepticism about the ownership of the car. @marythesa tweeted, “When you finish posing with the Lambo truck, you will go and return it from where you rented it!” @IhekoronyeN added, “Na who dem catch be thief,” implying that Mercy’s acquisition might not be different from others who have been scrutinized for sudden wealth.
Others didn’t hold back on their blunt opinions. @FagbamilaAyomi1 wrote, “Na lie o… she’s not happy for her o ,” while @Bisping_Chad dismissed the hype, saying, “Mk she getat jare. Ashawo people.” @kingdavid197 further claimed, “Toto in Nigeria is for sale with price tags on it.”
Meanwhile, some users sarcastically referenced the previous Burna Boy-Sophie incident. @OluwaTifeoluwa tweeted, “Mercy own is successful but Sophia failed ,” while @Nba_kakado joked, “As one person deal dey cast, another dey get successful transfer
.”
Despite the controversy, a few netizens celebrated Mercy’s success. @TeeBaeBiii congratulated her, “Congratulations Lambo ,” and @DebbySimon69 joined in with “Mercy Eke Lamborghini
.” However, others, like @kollimoore, lamented, “Things don change, serious moral decadence,” hinting at deeper concerns about the perceived source of wealth among influencers.
On the other hand, some netizens defended Mercy Eke, highlighting the unnecessary policing of women’s financial success. @Pearl1523998 pointed out, “In the Western world, cars are a necessity. Only in a poor nation like Nigeria, it is treated as a big deal to oppress others.”
Despite the controversy, Mercy Eke has yet to publicly respond to the speculations surrounding her latest acquisition. Whether her purchase was self-funded or sponsored remains unknown, but one thing is certain—the conversation about women, luxury, and financial transparency in Nigeria isn’t ending anytime soon.
