A 500-level Statistics student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has gained widespread attention after his story of resilience and determination went viral on social media.

The student, who funds his education by working as a commercial motorcyclist (Okada rider), became the focus of an emotional encounter with popular content creator Kopa Respect, known for his humorous NYSC-related pranks.

During a routine ride, Kopa Respect attempted to prank the student by pretending he had no money to pay for the trip. Unaware of the prank, the student firmly insisted on payment, explaining that he relies solely on his Okada earnings to cover his school fees and living expenses.

Touched by his story, Kopa Respect abandoned the prank and instead offered financial assistance and words of encouragement to support the student’s academic journey.

Sharing the encounter on social media, the content creator praised the student’s perseverance, highlighting the struggles of young Nigerians striving for a better future despite economic hardships.

He wrote:

“It’s easy to judge people as selfish when they insist on collecting their money. But behind every decision, there’s a story. This young man is a fighter, navigating an uncertain system while working tirelessly to fund his education. His struggle isn’t about greed; it’s about survival and determination.”

He further called on the Nigerian government to address the realities of life after graduation, stating:

“Working hard to earn an education is one thing; facing the uncertainty of life after graduation is another. When a system offers no clear path, what becomes of those who sacrificed everything for a degree?”
