Rivers Chief Judge Age

The Rivers State House of Assembly has called on the DSS to investigate the Chief Judge over allegations of age falsification.

The political situation in Rivers State has taken a new turn as the State House of Assembly has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chief Judge over allegations of age falsification.

During a plenary session on Thursday, a member of the House, Hon. Major Jack, presented some documents to the Speaker. Following this, Deputy Speaker Hon. Dumle Maol raised concerns regarding the Chief Judge’s records, stating, “These documents before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service. Mr. Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice.”

The lawmakers discussed the matter extensively and agreed to formally request the DSS to conduct an investigation. They also asked the security agency to report its findings to the House.

The Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, in his comments on the matter, said, “The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the honourable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi. What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect.”

A vote was taken on the issue, and the Assembly unanimously resolved to write to the DSS, urging it to investigate the allegations against the Chief Judge.
