Nigerian Governor Dissects Christianity From Religion
By GWG Religion Editor

Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Sunday dissected Christianity away from common religion as he contradicted the claim by Aristotle that people were born good and only committed evil because of their circumstances.
Giving the Sunday message at the Hospital Chapel, National Hospital, Abuja, Bro Caleb as he is popularly referred to among Christians also lamented the influence of the world system which he said has made some to be squeezed into the world system.
Barrister Mutfwang who spoke on the topic “While we were yet sinners” under the theme, God’s Love drew his text from Romans 5:1-8 where he drew the analogy of man’s failure being reciprocated by God’s love.

While noting the increasing acceptance of deviant behaviour such as sagging and LGBT as signs of increasing influence of iniquity, Barrister Mutfwang affirmed that such tendencies were rooted in the fact that man was inherently born in sin.
According to him, the bible contradicts the claim by Aristotle and such who claim that men were naturally born as good people as he referenced the Psalmist who lamented that he was conceived in sin.
Drawing from John 3:16-18, Governor Mutfwang said:
“What makes a man a sinner is not what he does, but first of all, it is whether he believes in Jesus or not. The problem is not the practitioners of sin but that we were born with the nature of sin. In Adam all of us sinned. There is no human being that was born innocent,” the preacher said.
Tracing the manifestation of the love of God in any man to his acceptance of his sinfulness, he said:
“Unless you appreciate where God picked you from you can never appreciate the love of God. The greatest of all men is a sinner. Wickedness is inborn, it is a nature and it is not correct to say that society pushed you into drug addiction or prostitution.”
Drawing a parallel between Religion cum pseudo Christianity and true Christianity, he said that “religion is man’s attempt to please God,” adding that there is no human effort that can bring a man to the righteousness that God desires.
On the contrary, Governor Mutfwang defined true Christianity as “God’s initiative to find sinners in that while we were yet sinners God sent his son to die for us.”

While affirming that no one can claim an experience with God without an interruption with Jesus, he said:
“There is no way that Jesus can encounter you and you will remain the same. There is no way you encounter Jesus and your life will remain the same. Saul of Tarsus was on his way to Damascus to arrest Christians when heaven interrupted,” he said as he enjoined his audience to allow God interrupt them.
“If you have not experienced that divine disruption you will continue to be a Christian in name,” he said.
GWG.ng reports that Governor Mutfwang had in his entourage some of his aides and political associates including Senator Napoleon Bali, Yari Kumchi, among many others.
The message was interspersed with choir ministration, a thanksgiving and a message of felicitation from an envoy of the International Federation of Evangelical Students, Kehinde Ojo who encouraged the brethren to partner with the group in supporting the work of the ministry.
