The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has responded to those who questioned his educational background during the 2023 election period, saying they have now been proven wrong.

He spoke at the Government House in Asaba, when he addressed members of the Executive Committee of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Alumni Association Worldwide, who visited him. During the event, the governor received both the Hero’s Award and the Award of Excellence from the association.

Oborevwori said, “Some people tried to damage my reputation during the 2023 election campaign by spreading false claims that I didn’t attend school. I am proud to say I graduated from that university, and I am the first from there to become a governor.”

He further emphasized his strong ties to AAU, saying, “I have a lot of respect for Ambrose Alli University. During the political season, many false stories were told about me, including claims that I never went to school. Politics is full of blackmail, but the truth always stands.”

The governor explained that he completed a full-time program at AAU and earned a Second-Class Upper (2:1) in his Bachelor’s degree. “I studied full-time at AAU. I am a man deeply connected to my roots. I believe in Nigeria and in this state. I graduated with a 2:1, and I wasn’t one to make noise in school. Even today, my coursemates from Ekpoma still support me,” he added.

Oborevwori also mentioned his postgraduate education, saying, “Not only did I complete my undergraduate studies, but I also did my Master’s degree full-time at Delta State University, Abraka. I was among the pioneer students of the MSc program, and I truly value it.”

He concluded by noting that AAU stood by him throughout his legal battles. “The university supported me all through the court case, and even opposition lawyers were surprised. I still have my matriculation number,” he said.
