Super Eagles Coach World Cup

The head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Sekhou Chelle, still believes his team can qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

After their recent draw with Zimbabwe, Chelle is now focused on the next matches and how they can help Nigeria reach the World Cup.

Chelle explained that Nigeria still has a chance to qualify even though the team has had a difficult start. Before he became coach, the team had not won any of their first four qualifying matches. However, things began to improve when Nigeria defeated Rwanda 2-0 under his leadership.

Even with that win, the draw against Zimbabwe has made things harder for Nigeria. The team is now six points behind South Africa, who are leading their group and have a good chance of reaching the World Cup for the first time since 2010.

Nigeria has four matches left in the qualifiers. They need to win all of them and also hope that other results from their group will work in their favor. Chelle has said that the match against South Africa will be very important for their World Cup dreams. However, he believes that the first focus should be to beat Rwanda at home in Uyo before thinking about the game against South Africa.

Nigeria is set to face Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on September 3rd. After that, they will travel to play South Africa three days later. The Super Eagles must play their best in all remaining matches to keep their hopes alive.

Before these important games, Nigeria is planning to play some friendly matches to prepare. One of the friendlies may be against Russia in June, although Russia is currently suspended by FIFA. Nigeria is also expected to take part in a four-nation tournament called the Unity Cup in June, where they would play against Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica.

Although these matches are being discussed, the Nigeria Football Federation has not officially confirmed them yet. It is expected that they will announce the final plans for these games soon.
