Natasha 'Nee Idibia'

Hon. Natasha Osawaru has caused a stir in the Edo Assembly by introducing herself as Hon. Natasha Irobosa Osaworu “Nee Idibia,” sparking laughter and online debates.

The plenary session at the Edo State House of Assembly took an unexpected turn when Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, known for her role as the Deputy Majority Leader, introduced herself in a rather unconventional manner.

In her speech at the session, she stated, “My name is Hon. Natasha Irobosa Osaworu nee Idibia,” adding a twist to her name that has since gone viral across the internet and sparked a series of reactions.

As soon as she made the introduction, the chamber erupted into laughter, with some members of the House seemingly taken aback by the use of “nee Idibia.” The term “nee,” which is used to refer to a woman’s maiden name, was employed in an unusual context by Osawaru, who is not known to be married to 2Baba (Innocent Idibia).

Her playful introduction immediately triggered a wave of humorous reactions from her colleagues. Members of the Assembly could not hold back their laughter as they responded to the unexpected moment, adding to the already charged atmosphere.

News of Osawaru’s introduction quickly spread beyond the legislative walls, dominating social media platforms. Nigerians had plenty to say about the new development, with some commenting on the peculiar use of “nee,” which, according to grammar rules, should indicate a woman’s maiden name.

One user, HRH King Emeka (@justkency), pointed out, “She got it wrong it should be Hon. Natasha Irobosa Idibia nee’ Osaworu. Nee’ is a French word for formerly called.” Others, like @SemiNigerian, questioned whether Osawaru understood the meaning of “nee,” referring to her as “Olodo,” an expression used to imply ignorance.

The hashtag #NeeIdibia trended briefly as users across the country expressed their surprise, amusement, and sometimes confusion. “How can she be ‘nee Idibia’? English hard like that?” asked Ada Zion (@NMgbekwue), while @Ko_c_so remarked, “I thought Nee whatever is supposed to be Nee ‘father’s surname.’”

On the flip side, some social media users defended the move, calling it a “power move.” Fearless_faith (@Baddeshh) shared, “Love it or not, that’s a power move,” while @prettyoma22 jokingly said, “Make she use the name to cook soup,” a metaphor suggesting that she was using the name for personal gain.

The relationship between Honourable Osawaru and Nigerian music legend 2Baba has been the subject of considerable media attention in recent months. Tuface Idibia publicly confirmed their romance, revealing his intentions to marry her. This announcement followed ongoing rumors about the nature of their relationship, especially given Tuface’s previous marriage to actress Annie Idibia.

In an emotional moment, Tuface referred to Natasha as “a young, brilliant, and amazing woman,” suggesting that he saw a future with her, despite the public scrutiny surrounding his personal life. However, the love story took a further twist when Osawaru changed her social media handles, notably on Instagram, to include the name ‘Idibia,’ sparking even more reactions and conversations online.

While some Nigerians found the situation amusing, others were concerned about the legal implications. Some users have even speculated that this could lead to potential legal trouble for both Natasha and Tuface, particularly regarding accusations of infidelity and the possibility of bigamy, as Tuface’s divorce from Annie is still ongoing.

One user, @D_Conservatives, expressed concern, tweeting, “’Small time’ they will say give youth a chance to be leader. Our youths are wags and proud home breakers.”

Meanwhile, @KingStanN7 questioned Natasha’s motives, saying, “Why is she so desperate? This is the exact kind of love 2Baba is running from, so honestly, I don’t understand 2Baba at all.”

Honourable Natasha Osawaru’s introduction in the Edo State House of Assembly certainly caused a stir, both in the chamber and online. While her playful use of “nee Idibia” was likely a lighthearted attempt at humor, it quickly became a focal point of national discourse, with reactions ranging from comedic to critical.

Whether it was a strategic move for attention or simply an amusing gaffe, Osawaru’s introduction exemplifies the growing intersection of politics, celebrity culture, and public reaction in today’s digital age. As her relationship with Tuface Idibia continues to unfold, the public will likely be keeping a close eye on further developments, especially considering the legal and social challenges that may arise from their highly publicized romance.
