Man Takes Own Life By Hanging After Leaving His Car By Roadside

A man tragically took his own life by hanging on Olokoro-Umudike Road in Umuahia, after parking his car by the roadside.

A 32-year-old man named Andrew Chukwuka Chidozie Nwosu has reportedly died by suicide along the Olokoro-Umudike Road in Umuahia, Abia State.

Andrew, who hailed from Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government Area, was said to have parked his car by the roadside early on Thursday, April 17, 2025. According to reports, he allegedly used his belt to hang himself on a nearby fence.

Eyewitnesses said they saw his lifeless body hanging and were shocked by the sight. They immediately called the police to report what they saw.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident. She said, “Yes, the incident happened. One Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu from Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA was found hanging on a fence along Olokoro-Umudike Road.”

She added that officers from the Ubakala Division quickly arrived at the scene and took the necessary steps. The body was moved to Madonna Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

“There was no sign of violence on the body. Photographs were taken at the scene, and a preliminary investigation is ongoing,” DSP Chinaka said.
