Edo PDP Faction Rebukes Obaseki, Aziegbemi
By Benjamin Abioye

The Chief Dan Orbih inclined faction of the PDP in Edo State has condemned the Tony Aziegbemi parallel faction for instigating the destruction of the party.
The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly rebuked factional chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, for his recent comments and actions, describing them as distractions from the party’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and restore its former glory.
In a press statement released Friday, May 9, 2025, the PDP faction accused Aziegbemi of attempting to shift blame onto the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, for the party’s current struggles. The statement emphasized that Aziegbemi’s tenure as chairman was marked by mismanagement that left the party fractured, with significant internal chaos, defections, and a decline in public trust.
“Aziegbemi’s attempt to scapegoat the Speaker is both unfortunate and dishonest,” said Bob-Manuel Umoru, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee. “Under his leadership, the party experienced one of its most destructive periods, resulting in widespread disarray. It is difficult to see how he could now claim moral high ground.”
The PDP also criticized the role of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, describing his leadership as divisive and vindictive, which exacerbated the party’s struggles. The party noted that while Aziegbemi seeks to regain relevance through baseless commentary, the current leadership of the party is focused on reuniting aggrieved members, strengthening party structures, and regaining the trust of the people of Edo State.
“The time for self-serving political games is over,” the statement declared. “We call on Mr. Aziegbemi to show restraint and allow the current leadership to continue its vital work of restoring the PDP to its rightful place in the hearts of Edo people.”
The PDP’s statement concluded with a commitment to a future of inclusivity, accountability, and progressive leadership. It called on all members to support the rebuilding efforts and reject distractions that could derail the party’s path to redemption.
The Edo PDP is now focused on healing and rebuilding, seeking to reconnect with its members and ensure that the party emerges stronger and more united than before.
