Edo Police Commissioner Initiates Disciplinary Action Against Officer for Firearm Threat (Video)
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Funsho Adegboye, has taken decisive action against Police Constable Prince Chima following allegations of threatening individuals with a firearm at their residence.
The incident, captured in a viral video circulating on social media, prompted swift intervention from the Edo State Police Command. Commissioner Adegboye immediately ordered a thorough investigation into the matter, leading to the prompt arrest of the officer in question.
According to SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesperson for the command, Constable Chima, identified by Force Number 534023, was assigned to the Department of Operatives (DOP). However, recent events have raised serious concerns about his conduct.
During interrogation, Constable Chima confessed to his involvement in the altercation, revealing that the incident occurred while he was on duty at NIPCO along Siluko Road. Allegedly, a heated exchange ensued with a civilian who insulted him, prompting Chima to pursue the individual to his residence.
At the individual’s home, tensions escalated, leading to the officer brandishing an AK-47 rifle, as captured in the widely circulated video.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Commissioner Adegboye directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the X-Squad Section to conduct a comprehensive investigation. Additionally, the officer’s mental health status will be evaluated by the command’s medical officer to assess his fitness for duty.
While commending the individuals involved for their restraint and composure during the incident, Commissioner Adegboye reassured the public that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against the erring officer.
