Dele Gold death

Popular Juju and Gospel singer, Dele Agbeyo, widely known as Dele Gold, has passed away, leaving the Nigerian music community in mourning.

The news of his death was confirmed by his colleagues on Wednesday, September 11, after the musician succumbed to a brief illness.

Dele Gold’s passing comes just one month after the death of his close colleague, Aduke Ajayi, also known as Aduke Gold. While specific details surrounding his illness and death remain unclear at press time, several prominent figures in the Juju music scene, including Titi Oguntoyinbo, Akinlabi Major, Alayoka Melody Singer, and Wonder Doyin Kujore, have confirmed the unfortunate news.

The self-proclaimed “Miliki Gospel King” made a significant impact in the Juju and Gospel music world, gaining popularity for his unique blend of traditional Juju sounds with Gospel themes. In 2019, he notably collaborated with the legendary Juju maestro, Chief Ebenezer Obey, on one of his albums, solidifying his place among Nigeria’s celebrated musicians.

Dele Gold hailed from Usi, Ekiti State, but spent much of his childhood in Faforiji, Osun State, where his passion for music was nurtured. His journey into the music world was said to have been inspired by a series of vivid dreams, which eventually led him to pursue a career as a Juju and Gospel artiste.

As fans and fellow musicians come to terms with the loss of Dele Gold, tributes continue to pour in, honoring his contributions to the Nigerian music industry. His unique sound and heartfelt performances will be remembered by many as the Juju and Gospel community bids farewell to one of its beloved stars.
