RCCG Calls For Evidence In Homosexuality Probe
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has publicly called on individuals with evidence related to accusations of homosexuality involving its pastors to come forward. This appeal follows recent suspensions of several pastors over similar allegations.
In a memo dated October 28, 2024, RCCG announced the indefinite suspension of two youth ministers while an investigation into the accusations proceeds. Sunday Akande, RCCG’s national overseer, signed the memo and ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the sexual misconduct allegations.
Akande reiterated the church’s position, emphasizing that RCCG does not condone or permit any form of homosexuality, citing biblical teachings as the foundation of this stance.
According to ChurchTimes, RCCG also invited anyone with credible evidence to assist with the investigation, providing an official email (rccgadm@gmail.com) and a contact number (09039000700) for submitting relevant information. The church emphasized that only verified evidence will be considered in the investigation.
One of the suspended pastors, Ayorinde AdeBello, denied all allegations against him, asserting that he has never engaged in any inappropriate behavior with male teenagers. He explained that his initial silence was mistaken for “an admission of guilt,” prompting him to finally respond.
AdeBello further clarified that a widely shared WhatsApp screenshot, which some interpreted as evidence, was misrepresented. He stated that the conversation, in reality, concerned male reproductive health and self-esteem issues in a youth discussion group.
