Nigerians Flood Airports In Fear Of Road Kidnappers (Video)
By Benjamin Abioye
Kidnapping fears in Nigeria push many to choose air travel over road trips, avoiding the risk of high ransom demands.
The rising insecurity in Nigeria, particularly the increasing cases of kidnapping, has had a devastating impact on many families, turning lives upside down and leading to numerous deaths.
This alarming situation has caused many Nigerians to turn to air travel as a safer alternative.
A woman captured the scene of a crowded airport, where passengers were seen traveling to different parts of the country for the festive period. She shared her thoughts on the growing trend of air travel, explaining that many Nigerians are now opting for flights out of fear of being kidnapped while traveling by road. This fear stems from the huge ransoms typically demanded by kidnappers when they abduct their victims.
Despite the high cost of flights and the discomfort they may cause, the woman noted that many Nigerians are willing to pay the steep fees, seeing air travel as the safer option. “As expensive as the flight fees are, many still pay through their nose for safety,” she said, emphasizing the seriousness of the kidnapping issue in the country.
Kidnapping has become a daily threat in Nigeria, with many people losing their lives because they cannot meet the ransom demands. Some victims, despite paying the ransom, are still killed, while others who survive return home traumatized and often injured.
The fear and uncertainty surrounding this crisis have severely disrupted everyday life, affecting businesses and other activities that Nigerians once carried out without concern. The ongoing insecurity has left many feeling unsafe and unwilling to travel by road, further deepening the crisis in the country.
