Liverpool welcomed Arsenal to Anfield in the mouthwatering Premier League encounter which the hosts won 3-1. Jurgen Klopp took his pound of flesh from Mikel Arteta after he lost against him in the FA Community Shield.

Alexandre Lacazette put the Gunners ahead in the 24th minute. However, the Frenchman was disappointing as he missed two golden opportunities in the latter stages of the game.

His profligacy in front of goal was costly. On the contrary, Liverpool took their chances. Sadio Mane scored the equalizer in the 28th minute and Andrew Robertson gave his side the lead in the 34th minute.

Nonetheless, the first half ended 2-1 in favor of Liverpool. Second half action was more exhilarating, as both sides played wonderful attacking football.

Arsenal did a great job in averting most of Liverpool’s attacks. Finally, Diogo Jota who came off the bench scored the third goal to seal the win for the defending champions in the 88th minute.

This defeat means Arsenal have lost their first game of the season. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s outfit are relentlessly winning games just like they did last season. Liverpool were the clear favorites in the match and deserved to win the game due to a masterclass display that put their opponents in a state of sixes and sevens from the beginning of the match till the referee’s final whistle for full time.
