Marriage: Kaduna Sharia Court To Hear Case Of Christian Man Dragged To Court By Daughter

A Kaduna Sharia court will on Monday, March 4 continue hearing on an application by a 25-year-old former Christian who dragged her father to the court to endorse her marriage to a Muslim suitor.

Rose Bulus, had dragged her father before the Magajin Gari, Kaduna sharia court to allow her marry the man she loves.

“I want the court to compel my father to allow me marry the man I love and if he refuses, the court should do the needful’’ Miss Bulus had claimed.

The father, Josiah Bulus at the last hearing had claimed ignorance of the marriage proposal.

“the supposed suitor has never visited me to ask for the hand of my daughter in marriage,” he had said.

The presiding judge, Malam Dahiru Lawal had upon the submissions of father and daughter averred that “even though marriage is a union between a man and a woman, parent’s consent is equally needed before the union takes place.”

He had consequently adjourned the case to Monday to hear from the suitor and his family.
