Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo’s latest letter with maturity in taking the message without beclouding emotions with the messenger.

The council in a statement issued by its president-general, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro observed that recent events in the polity call for caution as it urged Igbo outside the Southeast and South-South to consider their options in the face of growing threats.

He said:

“We Urge the Federal Government to take the message and forget the messenger (Chief Olusegun Obasanjo) and never succumb to pressure of Miyetti Allah’s demand for the immediate arrest of Chief Obasanjo over His recent letter.

“We advocate for maturity and selflessness in handling the situation arising from the open letter.”

While observing that many elders across the geopolitical regions could be burdened by past actions in proposing genuine national dialogue, the Igbo youth group promised to lead the dialogue with youthful elements not so associated by past guilt.

“There are a crop of emerging new youth leaders across-the-board capable of arresting the insecurity situations of the country through National Peace Dialogue championed by Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders.”
